FirmGreen Returns as Presenting Sponsor for SCPGA Patriot Pro-Am
FirmGreen, Inc. is proud to present the 4th annual Southern California PGA (SCPGA) Patriot Pro-Am Tournament to be played on May 4, 2015, at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells. This is FirmGreen’s third year as the presenting sponsor for the Patriot Pro-Am —SCPGA’s flagship fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a nonprofit that provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of military offices disabled or killed in the active line of duty.
The scramble format event pairs one PGA professional, three amateurs and one military member for each of the 26 tournament teams. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Special Guest Speakers Major Ed Pulido, U.S. Army (Ret.), and Sr. VP of the Folds of Honor Foundation, and Scott Simpson, champion of the 1987 U.S. Open. Tournament players will enjoy play on Toscana Country Club’s South course, one of the Club’s two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses, with lunch provided during the round, a cocktail reception and award ceremony, tee prizes and a silent and live auction.
“By benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation, the tournament gives our brave men and women the opportunity to heal from their most significant injuries, including some we can’t see — such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and traumatic brain injury,” said Steve Wilburn, CEO of FirmGreen. “I take a personal interest in our service men and women. As a wounded and 100% disabled Vietnam Era Marine Corps Veteran, I know first hand what it means to have the gratitude and respect from my fellow countrymen.”
“The Folds of Honor Foundation is pleased and proud to again be associated with the SCPGA Patriot Pro-Am,” said Tony Biata, PGA, who serves as Vice President, Patriot Golf Day. “This special event brings together active-duty and retired military personnel, amateur golfers and Southern California PGA Professionals for a day of outstanding golf and fellowship. It’s a wonderful platform not only to recognize the efforts of America’s Armed Services personnel, but also to provide educational assistance to deserving military families.”
At the tournament, FirmGreen Golf, LLC is announcing commercial availability of organic fertilizer (made from food waste & landscape compost) to the golf industry. FirmGreen will seek collaboration with the golf course superintendents of America as it rolls out its organic fertilizer product. The fertilizer, formulated to improve drought tolerance for a greener turf with less water use, can be customized to local course requirements. FirmGreen Golf, LLC is a FirmGreen company.
